Basics of Scientology
The word Scientology is defined as “the study and handling of the spirit in relationship to itself" meaning it's the study of ones relationship to themselves and to the universe. Scientology evolved around the spirit and the body and how man can be more than just a by product of their surroundings. A human being is made up of much more than his/her genes and or the things consumed. These are not the only things that make up a human being. Scientologists follow fundamental truths as seen in other religions, as a guideline to assist that individual to accomplish the "final" goal. These guidelines consist of recognizing that humans have unlimited capabilities. The Scientology website, identifies these as: "Man is an immortal spiritual being. His experience extends well beyond a single lifetime. His capabilities are unlimited, even if not presently realized" (Scientology.org). This illustrates that humanity is more capable of accomplishing things many others think are impossible.

Followers of Scientology: "The total number of people who identify as believers of Scientology is only 25,000. In America that's one Scientologist for about every 12,000 Americans." (Google.com) Even though believers of Scientology are not close to the number of Buddhists which is around 500 million followers they are still extremely passionate about their religion. Scientology has been identified on the record for conducting dark manipulative teachings with non-believers. These actions and teachings have made it difficult for those that may want to leave the Church of Scientology. An example of this would be the television show featuring Leah Remini who recently left the church and is now publicly telling her story. The Church of Scientology is practiced everywhere with strong followings in..."Los Angeles, Pasadena, San Francisco, Seattle, New York, Washington DC, London, Berlin, Brussels, Madrid, Mexico and Johannesburg" (Scientology.org)
